POSITION OBJECTIVE

 

Summary:

This position is responsible to the Director of Community Relations & Marketing for the design management, production and editing of publications and website maintenance. The position will also encompass developing and implementing the communication strategy of ELTHAM, and working with local and metro media to maximise publicity opportunities. The range of publications includes a prospectus, various magazines/yearbook, information sheets and the external & internal websites of the business. The Communication Specialist will work across all businesses within the ELTHAM family.

 

Role objectives include:

·         To interpret market research and use it to develop and implement strategies, concepts and proposals to help meet ELTHAM’s marketing and communication objectives

·         To write (or edit and re-write) interesting copy which encourages viewer engagement

·         To ensure that communication developed for both internal and external stakeholders visually and meaningfully reflects ELTHAM’s philosophies

·         To facilitate timely production of publications and communications (both internal & external)

·         To implement processes to ensure management of content of communication channels and management of resources to support the marketing and communication processes

·         To help manage the clarity, consistency, professionalism, content, voice and tone of College communication

·         To manage the day to day running of all editorial aspects of all communications

·         To develop relationships with relevant media organizations to facilitate maximization of publicity opportunities

·         To train specific staff on content management of the websites (including intranet)

·         To edit material of the Principal/CEO and Development Director where required

 

The Communications Specialist understands and complies with the College’s strategic intent and with the goal/s and key activity/activities as articulated for this position’s team or area of work.

 

 

Key skills required:

Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, editing and attention to detail

Ability to work on multiple activities and meet multiple deadlines

Ability to work without constant direct supervision

Ability to work with teams and key stakeholders

Advanced computer skills, including publishing skills eg InDesign

Knowledge and experience in using a range of marketing and communication channels (social media & digital tools) and an interest in keeping up to date with emerging communication channels.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Highly desirable: post-school qualifications or equivalent in areas relating to communication and/or marketing

Required: professional writing experience, MS Office Package, web design and content management systems, skilled in most current publication and office software (specifically Microsoft, Adobe), Printing and production processes
