Eltham Chefs Taste Success

A couple of young Eltham Chefs are set to take on Australia's finest in a National Cook Off for this year's Nestle Golden Chef's Hat Award.

Matthew Carnell, (Class of 2007) together with fellow Mercer's apprentice Bessie Grant competed in and won the Victorian State final last month.  12 teams were given 4 hours to produce a 3 course meal using a mystery box of ingredients.  Matt and Bessie's meal consisted of a Barramundi and mediterranean vegetable terrine with pan fried fillet and cucumber salad; assiette of beef with roast oyster blade, braised brisket and fried sweetbreads with roast pumpkin puree and finally a dessert of chocoalte mousse with pecan crumble and caramet foam
